The visit of Chinese President Hu Jintao attests to the country’s warm relations with the region’s biggest and fastest growing economy.
Proof of this is the total US$1.1 billion in investments China is bringing to the Philippines, including a $300-million loan for the construction of a railway that will link Metro Manila with the northern provinces. The business delegation accompanying Hu is also pledging to infuse $800 million into the country’s mining industry.
