BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya: California Energy (CalEnergy), owner and operator of the controversial $10.5-million Casecnan Multipurpose Irrigation and Power Project (CMIPP) in Alfonso Castañeda, paid its accumulated real-property tax obligations amounting to P250 million to the provincial government of Nueva Vizcaya.
CalEnergy, owned by the US-based California Energy Casecnan Water and Energy Co. Inc., was forced to settle its tax obligations to prevent the provincial government from proceeding with public auction of its facilities.
