Vacation homes are in once more, but today they come in a term more apt for the Filipino family’s search for the ultimate retreat—residential resorts.

Jose Antonio-Burgos, vice president for residential resorts of Landco Pacific Corporation, attributes the trend to Metro Manila’s growing congestion problem. “Residential resorts give homeowners the chance to bring their children to something different and breathe real air, besides giving them a chance to bond with their families,” Burgos said. “People are into getting away and cocooning. They want a second home that will give them a relaxing experience. They don’t want to spend the weekend fixing things or mowing the lawn.”
