Sanuk’s 3rd annual sandcastle competition

THE creative footwear brand Sanuk brought the fun and excitement of the going to the beach to Bonifacio High Street on April 16 via the third Annual Sandcastle Competition.

From an impressive number of participants, only 10 teams were chosen to show off their creative skills and talents in making sand castles. They were the Arena Arquitectos; the Depot team; the Sandblasters; Block 15; X1M; ATM to PRO; the Starving Artists; Exempt team; Ish team; and Sandata.

While each group worked long and hard under the scorching sun to build their works of art, kids were treated to a bubble show, balloon twisting, a stacking contest and a mini “Amazing Race” contest.

After almost four hours of molding and sculpting, the judges declared Team Arena Arquitectos as the grand champion based on their work’s timely “Save the Ocean” theme. An intricately sculpted turtle was the centerpiece of the artwork. The team comprised of of Justine Urbano, Brigitte Kae Cortes, Venus Jasmin Palceso, Rick Jason Padua and Jayson Mondeno.

With the success of this year’s sandcastle competition, the distributors of Sanuk in the country, the Primer Group of Companies led by its chief operating officer, Jacky Qunitos said they plan to organize the fourth leg in Boracay come 2012.
