Sans Aquino’s nod, FOI grounded in Lower House

Starkly different from the representative’s enthusiasm for the Corona impeachment complaint, Freedom of Information (FOI) bill has been gathering dust in the House of Representatives despite the support of least 117 lawmakers to pass the measure.

But isn’t democracy all about having the numbers? Well, not in the case of the FOI measure which codifies the right of the people to information on matters of public concern and the state policy, to receive full disclosure from officials of all transactions involving public interest, including transcripts and minutes of official meetings.
