The next big musical event in the region is the “Future Music Festival” set to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on March 15 and 16. Unlike Laneway, which was held in Singapore and cities in Australia and New Zealand and focuses mostly on indie pop and indie rock acts, the FMF is dubbed as Southeast Asia’s “largest music festival.” It features world-renowned mainstream artists in pop, rock and hip hop and dance music.

In 2012, over 7,000 concertgoers from Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia, India and Europe saw performances from diverse musical acts as The Chemical Brothers, FloRida, Tiny Tempah, The Wombats, Grandmaster Flash and many other. Organizers are expecting an influx of over 10,000 fans from abroad for this year’s two-day festival, which has sold over 16,000 tickets so far.
