The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday condemned the abduction on Tuesday of four Filipino members of a United Nations peacekeeping force in the Golan Heights and called on Syrian rebels to immediately release them.

It was the second time in two months that UN troops have been seized in the tense ceasefire zone between Syria and Israel. In March, 21 Filipino peacekeepers were held as captives for four days in the same area by Syrian rebels.
