LEGAZPI CITY, Albay: The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology on Thursday said the status of Mayon Volcano may be raised to alert level 4 if  continuous crater glow and harmonic tremors will be recorded. In a press briefing, Phivolcs senior resident volcanolosgist Ed Laguerta noted that Mayon’s edifice depleted abruptly by 2.4 millimeters from 17 millimeters inflation in the past three weeks, indicating that magma is about few kilometers away from the crater.
