Poe leads, Binay gains in MBC poll

INDEPENDENT presidential candidate Sen. Grace Poe led the second wave of pre-election surveys conducted by the Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC) and its flagship station dzRH.

Poe’s running mate, Sen. Francis Escudero, also topped the survey but his score is two points lower than his rating in December.

Poe, who also topped the Pulse Asia pre-election presidential survey conducted in January, got 27 percent.

She was followed by Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, who garnered 26.4 percent, which is four points lower than his December ratings of 30.25 percent.

Vice President Jejomar Binay ranked third with 23.2 percent, five points higher than his previous rating of 18 percent, making him the biggest gainer among the presidential candidates.

Binay is trailed by Liberal Party (LP) standard-bearer Manuel Roxas 2nd, with 19 percent, while Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago was in the fifth place with 3.9 percent.

The dzRH survey called “Desisyon 2016” was conducted on February 13, 2016 with 7,572 respondents randomly selected in 300 barangay (villages).

In the vice presidential survey, Escudero got the highest score of 26.8 percent, closely followed by Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. who garnered at 25.1 percent. Roxas’s running mate Leni Robredo was a far third with 18.8 percent.

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano was fourth with 14.8 percent, followed by Sen. Antonio Trillanes 4th, 6.2 percent, and Sen. Gregorio Honasan, 5.5 percent.

Former senator Panfilo Lacson edged out Sen. Vicente Sotto 3rd to take the top spot in the senatorial race after getting 53 percent, two points higher than Sotto’s 51 percent.
Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri was third with 46.6 percent, followed by Sen. Ralph Recto, 43.4 percent and former Sen. Francis Pangilinan, 42.2 percent.
