Police arrest Customs employee for shabu

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union: Joint operatives of the La Union Provincial Police Office, San Fernando City Police Station and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency agents arrested a Bureau of Customs employee for possession of five sachets of suspected shabu and several .45 caliber live ammunition last Thursday. Police Supt. Julius Suriben, provincial police intelligence officer, identified the suspect as Roberto Abalos, a resident of Barangay Poro. Abalos was arrested after a search warrant was implemented by the authorities who had been monitoring him for some time. It was also reported that as of Thursday, over 2,000 drug personalities have voluntarily surrendered. An oath-taking activity in Camp Diego Silang was conducted by the La Union Police Provincial Office led by new provincial Gov. Pacoy Ortega and Police Supt. Angelito Dumangeg. The event also included the 1st Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council conference and covenant-signing with surrendering drug personalities to strengthen the illegal drugs drive.
