A coalition of health groups has appealed to Congress to include funding support for the prevention of non-communicable diseases in the proposed Universal Health Care (UHC) law.
“Primary health care services are important. However, UHC will not be sustainable if it is focused only on the provision of curative measures. It must also strengthen health promotion programs in order to prevent the onset of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) which are known to be the top causes of Pinoy deaths,” Healthy Philippines Alliance said in a statement.
