Esports will be an official medal sport when the country hosts the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games next year, the Philippine organizing committee announced on Wednesday in a news conference at Marriott Hotel in Pasay City.

The official announcement was made marking the partnership between the Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (PhilSGOC), Philippine Olympic Committee, and leading global lifestyle brand Razer that aims to legitimize esports as a world-class sporting contest.
