MMDA to close Tomas Claudio Bridge

THE Tomas Claudio Bridge in Pandacan, Manila will be closed for six months starting on August 3 to give way to the construction of the Skyway Stage 3 Elevated Expressway project, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said.

“No parking will be allowed in the vicinity of the bridge 24/7. Traffic enforcers shall tow vehicles that are parked there,” MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia said on Wednesday.

The portion of the bridge from Valenzuela Street to Beata Street will be opened only to light vehicles for residents of the area and nearby places.

Trucks and other heavy vehicles going in and out of Beata Street must take Jesus Street then Quirino Avenue Extension to their destination.

The MMDA has advised motorists to take the following alternate routes: Vehicles coming from South Luzon Expressway (SLEx), Roxas Boulevard and President Quirino Avenue bound for Sta. Mesa must take East Zamora Street, straight to Labores Street, right at Jesus Street and Laura Street, then left at Jacinto Zamora Bridge, or follow usual traffic flow via Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard right at Old Sta. Mesa.

For vehicles going to SLEx, Roxas Boulevard and Pres. Quirino Avenue, those coming from Old Sta. Mesa, Jacinto-Zamora Bridge have to counterflow at the new open median island, then turn left at Beata to their destination.

Vehicles coming from Sta. Mesa should take Lubiran Street, turn right at New Panaderos Street, then straight to Pedro Gil Street to Pres. Quirino Avenue, and those coming from Tejeron Street/J.P. Rizal Avenue should go straight to Dr. M. Carreon Street, straight to Menandro Street, then turn right at Laura Street to destination.
