Fans of Danish footwear brand Ecco will be happy to know that the world-famous purveyor of high-quality comfort shoes is back in the Philippine market.
Conspicuously missing from the long-established range of European shoes that became staples on this side of the world like Clarks and Naturalizer, the Philippines is again part of the 87 countries where 2,989 shops and shop-in-shops offer the legacy of husband and wife Karl and Birte Toosbuy who founded Ecco in Bredebro, Denmark in 1963.
For over 80 years, the brand has been guided by its age-old philosophy that “True passion is essential to making great shoes.” As passionate shoemakers, Ecco has built its success on quality and innovative technology, and remains one of the few major shoe manufacturers in the world to own and manage every step of the shoemaking process. The company makes its own leather at its own tanneries and produce shoes at its own factories.
Meanwhile, nature, and its many colors, tones, shapes and textures, has always been a driving force at the company in terms of design. Thus, it is the ongoing development of its premium leather uppers and specialized soles that keep the brand in continual natural motion, so that when old world craftsmanship meets next generation technology, innovation occurs.
Today, the brand’s collections defy conventional shoe engineering with such patented technologies as FluidForm, which direct injects resilient, shock absorbent PU directly into the shoe mold; the suspended footbed or Corksphere; and the “hidden” heel of the Shape range, among many others.
Available in classic, casual and more edgy styles, Ecco’s expanding footwear heritage can be had in the Philippines anew as it initially opens in two shop-in-shop locations at SM Store Makati and SM Store Mall of Asia.
