A celebration of culture, heritage, art and livelihood

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) conducted the Sining Pangkabuhayan para sa Kabataan from July 22 to 26 in Davao City.

Traditional performances from various provinces added color to the event.

Carrying the theme Arts for Life, Arts for Livelihood, the 2019 Sining Pangkabuhayan para sa Kabataan aims to strengthen awareness and appreciation of the nation’s rich cultural heritage; demonstrate positive attitude through active participation in plenary sessions, workshops, performances, exhibits of outputs, and parade; and preserve, promote, and develop authentic Filipino culture, arts and crafts as a way of life and livelihood.

The 2019 Sining Pangkabuhayan para sa Kabataan held plenary sessions, workshops, performances, exhibits of outputs, awarding and recognition of various artists, among others.

The participants at the event were teachers, secondary school students, senior high school students taking Technical-Vocational-Livelihood and Arts and Design Tracks, junior high school students under Special Program for the Arts, Indigenous Peoples Education, Arabic Language and Islamic Values Education, Alternative Learning System, schools of living traditions, and DepEd field officials.

There were performances showcased and booths with products available from different regions at the Abreeza Mall. Each region was given 30 minutes each to showcase traditional performances from its provinces.

Apart from this, local products made by students from different regions all over the country were brought together in Sining Pangkabuhayan para sa Kabataan which were available for purchase by the participants.

On July 25, there were workshops held in Davao City National High School about portrait making; acting; arts, crafts, and marketing; basic public speaking and hosting of events; music performance and technology; creative writing; dance; TESDA accreditation; balloon arrangement; and jewelry making.
