August is declared as the Buwan ng Wika in the Philippines and what better way for “Art 2 Art” to commemorate this celebration than have no less than National Artist for Literature Virgilio Almario as its first featured guest for the month.
Airing today, Almario graces the program to discuss pertinent issues in language.
Almario, who is also the chairman of the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF), talks about the work of the commission in promoting the national language. He also outlines the various activities KWF has lined up with partner organizations to observe Buwan ng Wika (Language Month) which this year has the theme “Wikang Katutubo: Tungo sa Isang Bansang Filipino”.
Meanwhile, on August 11, visual artist Celeste Lecaroz relates how her coloring hobby led to a full-time career. Using watercolor, color pencils, gouache, pastel, acrylic and oil, she specializes in a style known as spontaneous realism.
On August 18, artist Mark Aldwin Del Rosario shares the challenges of making his first independent graphic novel. Intended as a series, Tales from the Kingdom of Tundo is a mythic fantasy set in a fictional kingdom with Lakan Bunao Dula as the hero.
