There’s neither a rule nor a reason why content that is created for online shouldn’t go “backwards” as it were and air on television. After all, even as information and entertainment’s emerging platform via the Internet is gaining ground far, wide and fast, there are still countless Filipinos who prefer to watch programs traditionally on small screens in their living rooms or bedrooms.
This in mind, online infotainment channel One PH has furthered its already extensive reach as pay TV provider Cignal TV’s newest addition to its exclusive lineup of channels.
The all-Filipino news channel is the third Cignal channel under the One branding, complementing One News, the English-language news channel and its sports channel One Sports.
“One PH furthers our commitment to deliver reliable news and public affairs programs that matter most to Filipinos,” said Sienna. Olaso, Cignal TV vice president of Channel Management said at One PH’s crossover launch late last week.
“True to our goal to be ‘Ang Boses ng Pinagkakaisang Pilipinas’ One PH will be home to news programs that inform and educate, talk shows that inspire and entertain, and public service programs that will provide our fellow Filipinos a venue where they can seek help for their problems,” Olaso added.
In a program hosted by News5’s showbiz authority and The Manila Times Entertainment columnist MJ Marfori with broadcast journalist and history buff Lourd de Veyra, the launch presented One PH’s titles as follows: “One Balita,” a noontime daily news program hosted by Raffy Tulfo and Jamie Herrell; primetime newscast “Sa Totoo Lang” with Cheryl Cosim and Jove Francisco; a nightly discussion on the country’s top headlines in “Wag Po” among veteran journos Ed Lingao, Patrick Paez, de Veyra, Melvyn Calderon, Manny Mogato and Jove Francisco; public service program “Idol” with Raffy Tulfo; “Mag-Badyet Tayo!” for tips on money matters from Chinkee Tan and Christine Bersola-Babao; “Inay Ko Po!” for parenting tips from millennial moms Jennica Garcia and Pat Fernandez; give parenting tips; and “Usapang Kapa-TED” for those who have questions about legal procedures, hosted by Atty. Ted Te.
Now available on Cignal TV, One PH is a 24-hour news service available on cable channel 6.
