PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte tapped William Dar to head the Department of Agriculture anew as its secretary, his long-time aide-turned-Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go said in a text on Monday.

Dar will replace former Agriculture chief Emmanuel Piñol who was appointed to the Mindanao Development Authority.

Dar served as acting Agriculture secretary and as presidential adviser on rural development during the administration of former president Joseph Estrada.

Dar was also the former director-general of International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics, an international organization, which conducts agricultural research for rural development.
