Inflation eases to 2.4%  in July

THE country’s headline inflation further eased to 2.4 percent in July the lowest recorded since December 2016, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported on Thursday.

Last month’s result was also down from the  5.7 percent in July 2018.

It also settled within the 2.2 to 2.6 percent forecast of analysts polled by The Manila Times earlier this week.

“The main drivers in the downtrend of inflation in July 2019 were food and non-alcoholic beverages; housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels; and transport,” said National Statistician and Civil Registrar General Claire Dennis S. Mapa. ANNA LEAH E. GONZALES
