Rising soon: Caloocan’s tallest building

Property giant New San Jose Builders Inc. (NJSBI), developer of the popular Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bataan, has started building the Victoria de Monumento, a mixed-use project, which will sit on an old wet market and jeepney terminal at 561 Calle Uno in the city.

Victoria de Monumento will rise with two residential towers and a podium area under. It will house a total of 6,000 residential units and more than 300 of retail spaces.

Not only will Victoria de Monumento be Caloocan’s tallest building, it will also be the Grand Hyatt Manila in Taguig City (with the project rising as high as 59 stories and only six levels short of the metropolis’ present highest building) of NJSBI.

Victoria de Monumento will have a gross floor area of 216,340 square meters (sqm). It will also feature 11 parking floors, two commercial floors and amenities — a 40,000-sqm sports gym, gaming facility, lap pool, basketball court, hotel, health and wellness space, and a cinema, among others.

At the sidelines of the recent groundbreaking ceremony, NJSBI Chairman Jose Rizalino Acuzar said the residential units would have sizes ranging from 23 to 200 sqm, and selling prices between P2.7 million to P50 million. The project will cater to middle-end, high-end and upper-middle income classes.

“Pre-selling [will start] next month after we get the license to sell. We are [already] submitting our permits,” Acuzar said.

In his speech during the ceremony, NJSBI Co-Chairman Isagani Germar said the company put up a high-rise building in Caloocan because it believed the city was already ripe for redevelopment.
Caloocan Mayor Oscar Malapitan, for his part, said the city was thankful of the builder’s trust. He said he was expecting the project to unlock Caloocan’s potential values.

“The opening of this establishment will open the doors to more jobs for Caloocan residents, as well as help us achieve our goal to be a tiger economy,” he said. “I also believe that this project will help increase our ranking in the richest cities in the Philippines from the 7th spot at present,” he added.

NJSBI is the company behind Victoria Sports Condominiums in Metro Manila. It is also the developer of the Philippine Arena in Bulacan and the Manila Hills subdivision in Montalban, Rizal.
