SEN. Leila de Lima can visit her sick mother in Naga City, a local court has ruled.
The Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court Branches 205 and 256 granted de Lima’s petition in a decision released on Wednesday.
The court allowed de Lima to visit her mother from August 14 to August 15 and must return on or before August 16.
The court also ordered the Philippine National Police to provide adequate personal escorts and security measures for the senator who has been detained on drug charges.
Raymond Baguilat, counsel for de Lima, filed the motion on August 9 during her hearing at the Muntinlupa RTC.
De Lima is facing three charges of alleged conspiracy in the trade of illegal drugs inside the National Bilibid Prison (NBP) while she was justice secretary. JAN ARCILLA
