Duterte backs passage of SOGIE bill - Palace

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte Duterte is supporting the Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Gender Expression (SOGIE) Equality Bill that aims to prohibit discrimination against sexual orientation, his spokesman said on Tuesday.

"He's all for it, the SOGIE bill and he's also inclined dun sa (to push for the establishment of a) third restroom for them. Meron silang sarili (They have their own restrooms)," Palace spokesman Salvador Panelo said during a press conference, a day after Duterte met with transgender woman Gretchen Diez who allegedly experienced discrimination at the Farmer's Plaza Mall in Cubao, Quezon City when she tried to use the ladies’ restroom.
