Davao Tigers extend win streak in MPBL

 

THE Davao Occidental Cocolife Tigers stretched their winning streak by downing Quezon City Capitals, 90-82, in the elimination round of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Lakan Season at the packed Pasig Sports Complex in Pasig City.

With almost the whole lineup fielded by head coach Don Dulay scoring, the Tigers surged ahead from the start to pad their lead 70-43 in the second half before coasting their eighth-straight win.

The Tigers of Dumper Party List Congresswoman Claudine Bautista backed by Cocolife President Atty. Juse Martin Loon, FVP Joseph Ronquillo, AVP Rowena Asnan and SVP Franz Joie Araque, improved to 9-1 record in South Division of the 31- team league organized by Senator Manny Pacquiao.


The Capitals led by Clark Derige ignited the minor uprising late in the final quarter but fell short as they skidded further to 5-5 record

Main man Mark Yee again sparkled for the Tigers with 16 points and 14 rebounds followed by Billy Robles with 10 points.

The Tigers got huge support from second troopers Chester Saldue, Richard Albo, Eman Calo, Marco Balagtas and Ivan Ludovice.

“Capital ‘D’ is the key against the Capitals. Our defenders dominated inside while our offensive thrusts did damage at the paint in the other end. It’s a team effort,” Dulay said.

Deputy team manager Ray Alao was all impressed the way their Tigers treating every game a playoff.
