Coinciding with Resorts World Manila’s (RWM) 10th anniversary, the 11th edition of the World Pitmasters Cup (WPC) 9-Stag international Derby kicks off on September 19 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater featuring record-breaking numbers of over 550 entries. RWM has been home to the country’s most prestigious and biggest cockfighting event since its inception in 2017.

The derby marks the first time the WPC will hold five consecutive 2-Stag elimination rounds from September 19 to 23 for Sets A to E, before a one-day 7-Stag Big Event on September 25.

Qualifiers will then face off in the 3-Stag semi-final rounds on September 26 to 30, leading up to the 4-Stag pre-final round on October 2. Entries with cumulative score of 3, 3.5, and 4 points qualify for the said round while entries with scores of 4.5 and 5 will come head to head for the grand finals on October 4.

The WPC is presented by promoters Charlie “Atong” Ang, Gerry Ramos, Ako Bisaya Party-List Rep. Sonny Lagon, RJ Mea and Agusan del Sur Rep. Eddiebong Plaza, among others.

The approximate prize money at stake for the winners of is a whopping P44 Million Pesos.

International Derby weight limits are set from 1.7 to 2.2 kgs. Only stags banded by local associations affiliated with FIGBA and PFGB-Digmaan shall be accepted. Hennies and Early-Bird (e.g. BNTV,A-CUP, FIGBA EARLY BIRD,etc) banded stags are prohibited.

The prestigious derby is co-presented by Resorts World Manila in partnership with Thunderbird, THOR MD, Excellence Poultry and Livestock Specialist, VNJ Distributors and Experto Gamefowl Products. This cockfighting event is sanctioned by the Games and Amusements Board.
