STATE-RUN Social Security System (SSS) has collected P795.97 million in unpaid premiums since the implementation of its Contribution Penalty Condonation Program (CPCP) in March. In a statement over the weekend, the pension fund said the unpaid premiums were collected from 31,774 employers benefiting 307,578 employees as of July. It added that it had condoned P1.67 billion in penalties through the program. It explained that the transitory clause of the Republic Act 11199, or the “Social Security Act of 2018” provides that a contribution penalty condonation program be implemented for six months from its effectivity in March. Thus, the deadline for the CPCP implementation is on September 6. The SSS is urging more than 100,000 delinquent employers to avail themselves of the program.
