BRASÍLIA: Brazil has rejected financial aid from G7 countries to fight wildfires in the Amazon, with a top official telling French President Emmanuel Macron to take care of “his home and his colonies.”

Brazil’s rejection of the nearly $70-billion aid came amidst the escalation of the massive fire to neighboring Peru, Bolivia and Chile, with thousands more hectares expected to be razed by fire due to massive lightning that strikes the thick forests covering more than 6 million square kilometers
