Lady Troopers shoot for No. 3 vs Angels

PacificTown Army seeks to dish out top form coming off a week-long break as it takes on a struggling PetroGazz today, looking for a third straight victory in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Open Conference at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

Motolite and Choco Mucho likewise shoot for a follow-up to their romps the last time out as they face Air Force and BanKo-Perlas, respectively, in pursuit of a third win and boost to their bids in the season-ending conference of the league organized by Sports Vision.

The Lady Troopers toppled the Perlas Spikers in four then outlasted the Flying Titans in a marathon record duel last Aug. 21 to remain the only other unbeaten squad in the nine-team field next to defending champion Creamline, which swept its first five matches.

But Army will be facing a PetroGazz side itching to get back into the thick of things following a stinging shutout loss it absorb from Creamline last weekend that dropped the recent Reinforced Conference champion to sixth with a 1-2 card.

Gametime is at 4 p.m. with Royse Tubino, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Jem Gutierrez, Nene Bautista, MJ Balse-Pabayo, Lutgarda Malaluan and setter Alina Bicar eager to slug it out with the likes of Cherry Nuñag, Jeanette Panaga, Paneng Mercado, Jovielyn Prado, Djanel Cheng and Jonah Sabete in what promises to be slam-bang duel.

Meanwhile, Motolite, with Myla Pablo, Fil-Am setter Iris Tolenada and the rest of the squad putting up solid outing the last two matches, sets out for another romp against winless Air Force at 2 p.m. with the Power Builders riding on the momentum of their back-to-back shutout victories over the Chef’s Classic Red Spikers and the BaliPure Water Defenders following a crushing 0-3 setback to the powerhouse defending champion Cool Smashers.

Choco Mucho, on the other hand, also shoots for its third win in four games against BanKo-Perlas in the 6 p.m. main game with the latter out to break a win-loss-win-loss-win run against a young but tall rival in a bid to stay at second in a crowded leaderboard.
