Manila club closed for absence of required permits but police raid yields 10 ‘illegal’ female aliens

MANILA Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso ordered the closure of a club after it failed to comply with the necessary operational requirements, police said on Thursday.

What the Manila Police District-Special Mayor’s Reaction Team (MPD-SMaRT) discovered, however, when it raided the Sha-Sha Club on August 28, was the presence of 10 female foreigners, nine Russians and a Kazakh, working as Guest Relations Officers (GROs) without the proper visa.

The Russians were identified as Ekaterina Golubeva, Polina Tagunova, Anna Mozharevskaya, Anatasia Bakumenko, Aleksandra Ivanova, Zukhra Akhmedzianova, Alexandra Zivittinsh, Diana Razogreeva, Anna Nikitina while the Kazakh was Ussipbek Kymbat. Their ages ranged from 21-29 years old.

They have been charged for violation of Article H, Section 98 (Professional Occupation Tax) and Article E, Section 138 (Health Certificate) in connection with Section 199 in the 2013 Omnibus Revenue Code of the City of Manila.

Brig. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr., MPD police chief, also said they were looking at human trafficking amid reports, particularly from the envoys of the two countries, of their citizens who could possibly be victims.

Authorities are coordinating with the Bureau of Immigration to check on the foreigners, Danao said. JOSHUA VERA CRUZ
