PNP wins 54 medals in World Police Games

THE delegation of the Philippine National Police (PNP) hauled 54 medals at the recent 2019 World Police and Fire Games in Chengdu, China.

Of the 54 medals, 18 were gold, 21 were silver and 15 were bronze. It was the biggest haul so far of the PNP on the world stage.

The PNP taekwondo team bagged 19 medals ― five golds, 10 silvers and four bronzes.

Meanwhile, the PNP Responders settled for silver after coming short against the United States Customs and Border Protection team in basketball, the only Asian team to make it to the finals.

The badminton tandem of Luningning Jagmis and Jason Ortizo also won silver after bowing to a faster Malaysian duo in the 40+ mixed doubles category.

PNP chief Oscar Albayalde

PNP chief Oscar Albayalde congratulated all athletes for their efforts.

“For years, we have been participating in this biennial events dubbed as the Olympics of the Law Enforcement as an opportunity to show that we are competent in sports and willing to forge camaraderie among our foreign counterparts,” Albayalde said.
