Palay (unmilled rice) and corn production in the country posted significant reductions in the second quarter of 2019 mainly due to drop in harvest area and yield.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in its “Palay and Corn Quarterly Bulletin” said the country’s palay output dropped by 5.8 percent to 3.85 million metric tons (MT) in April to June this year compared to year-ago’s 4.09 million MT.
