In May 1925, while on vacation in the Philippines, Pancho Villa ran low on cash and decided to defend the world flyweight (112 lbs.) title against countryman Clever Sencio at Wallace Field, Manila (now Luneta). This marked the first time the country hosted a world title fight involving two Filipino boxers and Villa didn’t disappoint as he retained the world title with a lopsided decision.
