UP, La Salle XI claim wins in UAAP football
The University of the Philippines (UP) and De La Salle University won against their respective foes to remain on the 1 and 2 spots Wednesday in the 73rd University Athletic Association of the Philippines men’s football at the Erenchun field inside the Ateneo campus. UP and La Salle settled to a 1-1 draw Sunday but the Fighting Maroons thrashed the Ateneo Blue Booters, 2-0 The La Salle Green Booters meanwhile crushed the defending champion Far Eastern University Tamaraws, 4-1.

UE Annual Intramurals begin February 7
The University of the East (UE) Annual Intramurals for basketball and volleyball begins Monday, February 7, at 9 a.m. at the UE Caloocan Gym, with the theme “Unity and Goodwill through Sports.” Organized by the UE Physical Education Department, led by Assistant Director-Officer in Charge Rodrigo Roque, the intramurals aim to promote physical fitness and camaraderie, and to discover new potential athletes for the UE varsity athletes training pool.
Japan’s Nishioka to lead triple title bout
Japan’s World Boxing Council super bantam weight champion Toshiaki Nishioka will take on challenger Mauricio Munoz of Argentina, leading a triple world title bout, his handlers said on Wednesday. Nishioka’s sixth defence of the title will take place at the Ryogoku National Sports Arena on April 8 with WBC featherweight champion Hozumi Hasegawa and WBC super featherweight champion Takahiro Aoh also taking part.
