Magnitude 4.8 quake jolts Batanes – Phivolcs

A magnitude 4.8 earthquake hit Batanes on Monday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The quake was recorded 46 kilometers (km) west of Itbayat at 1:07 p.m.

It had a depth of 25 km and was tectonic in origin.

No intensities were reported in nearby areas.

No major damage was reported and no aftershocks were expected, Phivolcs said. GLEE JALEA
