Former Pangasinan gov Espino wounded, 3 others killed in ambush 

 

FORMER governor Amado “Ama” Espino Jr. was injured and his two bodyguards and driver killed in an ambush in Pangasinan on Wednesday, a police official said.

Brig. Gen. Joel Orduna, Region 1 Police Regional Office (PRO) Director, said Espino was on board when unidentified gunmen fired at his vehicle in Barangay Magtaking in San Carlos City at about 4:30 p.m.

The two bodyguards died on the spot while the driver and Espino were brought to the Holy Blessed Family Hospital in San Carlos City. The unidentified driver died in the hospital, an initial report said.

 


Sen. Richard Gordon in a Twitter post said Espino was fighting for his life.

The motive for the shooting has yet to be determined as investigation is ongoing.

San Carlos City Police Station (CPS) are in pursuit of the unidentified suspects.

Espino served as governor of Pangasinan from 2007 to 2016.
