THE Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has shut down a Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO) service provider after failing to register with the tax agency.
Padlocked by the BIR on Wednesday was Great Empire Gaming and Amusement Corp. (GEGAC), with offices at the Subic Freeport, Quezon City and Aseana City, Parañaque.
“Results of the investigation showed that GEGAC is not registered for VAT, (value added tax) purposes,” it said in a statement.
In a separate message, Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez 3rd said that the number of foreign employees in the service provider’s Quezon City office was about 8,100, with a few hundred more in Parañaque and Subic. MAYVELIN U. CARABALLO
