Intellectual property panel finalizing action plan

THE National Committee on Intellectual Property Rights (NCIPR) is finalizing the 2019-2022 Action Plan, which lays down intellectual property (IP) enforcement strategies that will sustain IP rights nationwide. In a statement on Wednesday, the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines said the NCIPR, during its high-level meeting on September 25, buckled down to finalize the plan and implement it soon. Among the salient provisions in the draft plan are improving the operational capability of NCIPR by regularly allocating funds and providing adequate personnel for its operations; coordinate with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and other concerned government agencies for the issuance of government ICT policies that are attuned with the Intellectual Property Laws; and ensure compliance with Memorandum Circular 115 which mandates the use of only licensed software and applications in government offices.
