Pinoy JR netters aim high in Selangor meet

Six mainstays of Team Unified Tennis Philippines brace for a fierce duel against the leading and rising junior players in the region as they compete in the ITF (International Tennis Federation) Juniors J5 tournament in Selangor, Malaysia slated October 1-6.

Made up of Sydney Enriquez, Macie Carlos, Eric Tangub, Denise Bernardo, Bliss Bayking and Nio Tria, the 16- and 18-and-under squad hopes to duplicate its counterpart’s feat in the recent ATF (Asian Tennis Federation) 14-and-Under Series where the likes of Joewyn Pascua, Alexa Milliam, Marielle Alexi Jarata, Exequiel Jucutan and Marc Jarata swept the crowns in the boys and girls’ singles and doubles divisions.

Also handled by coach Leander Lazaro with Jun Tabura as assistant coach, the team’s campaign is backed by Cebuana Lhuillier, Micro Savings, Palawan Pawnshop, Dunlop, Enervon, STI, Buffalo Wild Wings, Bo’s Coffee and Madison Galeries Lifestyle Mall with UTP general manager Jackie Tomacruz and UTP board director Gerard Maronilla as heads of delegation.
