Baguio vendors’ feeding program to prove meat products ASF-free

BAGUIO CITY: The public is invited to a feeding program to be conducted by meat vendors of the Baguio City public market on October 5 starting at 10 a.m. to prove that all products being sold at the market’s meat section are safe from African swine fever (ASF) and can be consumed. In a letter to the public information division of the city mayor’s office under Mayor Benjamin Magalong, Nancy Alabanza and Ruperto Alvar, presidents of the Baguio City Market Authority and Baguio Meat Vendors Association, respectively, said hog raisers, dealers and meat vendors will be cooking and providing food for the public during the activity. Although the Department of Health has declared that ASF has affected hogs in several places in the country, Alabanza and Alvar said the ASF poses no risks to humans, citing a report from the Department of Agriculture. For more information on the feeding program, the public can contact Nancy Alabanza at: 0920-9137838 or 0917-5238532.
