Maynilad, Manila Water to hike rates


THE Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) has allowed Manila Water and Maynilad Water Services Inc. to increase their rates in October.

The agency said Manila Water’s basic charge of P28.52 per cubic meter (m3) would increase by P0.17 per m3, while Maynilad’s basic charge of P36.24 per m3 would go up by P0.02 per m3.

For Manila Water customers, households that consume 10 m3 or less will see their water bill go up by P0.93; those who consume 20 m3 will notice a P2.06-raise while those consuming 30 m3 will pay P4.20 more.

Maynilad customers who consume 10 m3 or less will see their water bill go up by P0.09; P0.34 for those who consume 20 m3; and P0.70 for those who consume 30 m3.
