The Podium’s grand opening

President of the Republic of Singapore Halimah Yacob recently graced the official opening of The Podium. The opening was one of the highlights of President Halimah’s state visit to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Philippines-Singapore diplomatic relations.

A joint venture between the Philippines’ BDO Unibank and Singapore’s Keppel Land Limited, the newly completed Podium expansion showcased the strong ties, shared expertise and successful collaboration between Philippine and Singapore industry leaders.

Accompanying President Halimah was her spouse Mohamed Abdullah Alhabshee. Also present were Singapore officials: Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Finance and Second Minister for Education Indranee Rajah, Senior Minister of State Dr. Koh Poh Koon, Singapore Ambassador to the Philippines Gerard Ho Wei Hong and Deputy Chief of Mission Zhou Suli.

BDO Unibank Chairperson Teresita Sy-Coson, SM Prime Holdings Executive Committee Chairman Hans Sy, BDO Unibank President and CEO Nestor Tan, and Keppel Corporation Chairman Dr. Lee Boon Yang, Keppel Corporation CEO Loh Chin Hua, and Keppel Land CEO Tan Swee Yiow welcomed them along with representatives from the Philippine government, as well as members of the diplomatic and business community.

Following the opening ceremony at The Podium Hall, President Halimah and guests toured Singaporium, a lifestyle and food pop-up fair. A joint project of The Podium and Enterprise Singapore, the Singapore government agency promoting Singaporean companies globally, the fair featured 17 Singaporean fashion, lifestyle, and food brands.

Strategically located in the heart of the Ortigas Business District, The Podium complex is redefining the city skyline with its sleek, sophisticated design, and innovative green initiatives. The multi-awarded development comprises three components: The Podium Mall, which first opened in 2002; The BDO Corporate Tower; and The Podium West Tower.
