Two leaders of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) were arrested in Cagayan, police reported on Wednesday.
Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) chief Maj. Gen. Amador Corpus identified the suspects as Violeta Ricardo alias “Isay,” 55, and Cristina Garcia alias “Senyang.”
The two were arrested in Gattaran, Cagayan at 7 p.m. on Tuesday for murder and violation of Republic Act (RA) 6539.
Four warrants of arrest (WOA) for murder and one for violation of RA 6539 were served against the two.
Three warrants of arrest for murder were issued in the years of 2000, 2001 and 2012, all with no bail recommended. The violation of RA 6539 was in 2015 with P300,000 bail.
Ricardo is the deputy secretary and finance officer of Northern Front (NF) Komiteng Rehiyon-Cagayan Valley (KR-CV), while Garcia is the secretary. Bounty for Ricardo was P 2. 4 million.
Another member of Communist group named Delilah Padilla alias “Delay,” was arrested in Tuguegarao City at 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
Padilla was the most wanted person affiliated with Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) for the crime of murder and violation of RA 6539.
Padilla, member of Southern Front (SF) of KR-CV, was arrested for numerous crimes such as murder, direct assault with murder, frustrated homicide and robbery in band.
Bounty for Padilla was P700, 000.
Along with Padilla, Carol Ballesta, 50, was arrested for harboring Padilla and she would face charges of obstruction of justice.
Last month, Philippine National Police chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde said that they would arrest more NPA leaders to end the insurgency.
