BSP to mint P20 coin

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) will launch a new P20 coin in December, which will be circulated in 2020.

The central bank said the official photographs and specifications of the coin would be presented by BSP Gov. Benjamin E. Diokno during its launch.

The Bangko Sentral explained that “the issuance of a coin in lieu of a banknote is more cost efficient.”

It said a study conducted by the University of the Philippines revealed that the P20 banknote is the most-used denomination across the country.
