A US Marine convicted of raping a Filipino woman has been transferred from the Makati City Jail into US custody, following a diplomatic furor, the US Embassy spokesman said Friday.
Lance Cpl. Daniel Smith was been transferred from Makati City Jail to the US Embassy in the capital where he will remain until all appeals against his conviction have been completed, embassy spokesman Matt Lussenhop said.
