ILOILO: The International Oil Pollution Compensation Fund (IOPCF) will be paying 13,000 claimants from the island province of Guimaras about $2.7 million as compensation for the harm dealt by the recent oil spill.

Joe Nichols, IOPCF deputy director and technical adviser, said adjusters came up with the figure after assessing all claims. The IOPCF hopes to pay the claims before Christmas, Nichols added.
