A storm that could develop into a supertyphoon may hit the country by Thursday.

The National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) on Tuesday alerted its regional offices in Eastern Luzon to the approach of “Reming” (international name: Durian). The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Reming, the 18th to hit the country this year, packs winds of 95 kilometers an hour, gusting to 120 kph.
