On her 18th birthday, a Filipina customarily throws a party to celebrate her debut in society. It is a traditional Filipino coming-of-age celebration and also signifies a girl’s transition to womanhood.
Jianna Eliz Gerial, a microbiology student at the University of Santo Thomas (UST) had always dreamed of a debut that would be a mix of the traditional and modern. She is the daughter of Dr. Nerissa Gerial, deputy executive director for nursing services of the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) and Dr. Ernesto Gerial Jr., a urologist/laparoscopic surgeon affiliated with the National Kidney and Transplant Institute of St. Luke’s Medical Center-Global City and Cardinal Santos Medical Center, to name a few. This special event was held at Marquis Events Place in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, with stylist Dave Sandoval and his team producing a program with the theme “Midnight Autumn under the Stars.”
Cascading fresh floral arrangements flown in from Holland, candlelight and dining nooks contributed to an intimate feel, and live music from the La Musica orchestra gave the evening a romantic and nostalgic feel.
The Gerial family would like to thank the guests who shared this family milestone with them and all those who spared no efforts in making Jianna’s debut an unfogettable event she will cherish for the rest of her life.
