Loose firearms turned over to soldiers in Lanao Del Sur

 

MARAWI CITY: A number of loose firearms were recently turned over to soldiers of the 103rd Brigade here. A caliber .30 Garand rifle was surrendered to the 55th Infantry Battalion (IB) on October 20 by Satar Emmandatu. On the same date, one M653 rifle and one M16A1 rifle with magazines and ammunition were also surrendered to the 28th IB in Barangay Pawak, Saguiaran. A local terrorist group member, Aminudin Datu aka Abu Jannah/Abu Nasrula, turned over one Browning automatic rifle, one caliber .45 handgun, magazines and ammunition. Datu was involved in armed encounters in Gacap, Piagapo, Marawi City and Mantapoli and prior to the Marawi siege, according to Lt. Col. Rafaman Altre, commander of the 82nd IB. He also served as the guide of the local terrorists group in Paradji Piagapo, Altre said. Col. Jose Maria Cuerpo 2nd, acting commander of the 103rd Infantry Brigade, said the recent turnover of the loose firearms was made possible in part by local chief executives and stakeholders of Lanao del Sur.
