Malacañang assured the public on Monday that the government would protect the country, especially Mindanao, against terrorism even after the reported death of Islamic State (IS) leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Palace Spokesman Salvador Panelo on Monday said the death of al-Baghdadi is a welcome development but said IS was still not extinct.
