Industry stalwart is Dong Feng distributor

Industry veteran George Blaylock and Cresencio “Jon” Fernandez of the famed Diamond Motors and Taj Autogroup have teamed up with Businessman David Coyukiat of Pioneer Insurance to establish Pilipinas Autogroup Inc. (PAI). In ceremonies held at its Cainta showroom, PAI formally announced its partnership with Chinese automotive giant Dong Feng as its exclusive distributor for its Philippine operations. “We used to be known as Pilipinas Taj Autogroup Inc. since 2014. This year, we changed it to PAI and added the Dong Feng brand into our portfolio,” explained Fernandez.

The Dong Feng showroom in Cainta is the first of many dealership to be put up by Pilipinas Autogroup.

Founded in 1969, Dong Feng steadily grew through the years to become a global player with a ranking of 67 in the Fortune 500 list. Their joint venture with Cummins, Isuzu and Nissan-Renault assures that Dong Feng’s line-up of commercial vehicles and cars are engineered and built to meet global quality standards. For their initial offering as they set out to stake their claim in the domestic market, PAI is fielding Dong Feng’s line of light to heavy commercial vehicles and buses. “We have extensively studied and evaluated the vehicles we are bringing in and we are proud to say that these vehicles have gone through stringent R&D and top-quality manufacturing processes that is at par with Japanese and European brands,” added Fernandez.

The formal announcement also coincided with the soft-opening of PAI’s first Dong Feng dealership situated along Ortigas Avenue Extension, Cainta, Rizal. Owned and operated by Louie and Alice Lee of Agrani Motors Inc., the dealership will offer Dong Feng commercial vehicles ranging from four, six to 10-wheeler cargo trucks, mini bus tractor heads, dump trucks and cement mixers.

“The country is in a state of rapid development. Developing nations need a lot of transport and logistics to move its economy forward and it here where the Dong Feng vehicles can greatly contribute to local business and the economy. In addition, PAI is committed to establish more Dong Feng dealerships in the country in the coming months in order to serve vehicle and after sales needs of its customers,” stated Coyukiat, Chairman of the Board of PAI.
