A magnitude 5.1 earthquake hit Eastern Samar on Friday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The epicenter of the quake was recorded at 32 kilometers southwest of Guiuan, Eastern Samar at 1:31 p.m. It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 21 kilometers.
